Update No. 4. We've signed Logan up for his second season of soccer. He "played" this past spring and really enjoyed it. He is with the Strikers organization here in our town and we really like the way they teach the game of soccer to kids of all ages. Last season it was more focused on teaching the kids, in Logan's age group, drills and how to handle the ball. This season it seems to be more about teaching the kids how to play an actual game and get the ball from one end of the field to the other. He only plays on Saturdays and now some Sundays as rain makeup days. The pictures below are from his first game this season.
His team name is the Shepherds, as in German Shepherds. All the teams in his age bracket are named after dog breeds. He picked number 7 for his shirt/jersey which happens to be his Pop Pop's favorite number, being it was Mickey Mantle's and all.
Raegan came out to cheer on her big brother. Go Logan Go!!!
This is my favorite action shot of the day.
The sock-less wonder!
Time for a true confession: While watching Logan play I could feel myself wanting to yell for him to knock the players from the other team down. I think I have tendencies to be the parent that gets in a physical fight with either a ref. or a parent from another team. I might have to preemptively ban myself from any games in the future when they actually start keeping score.
It was a great first game and reintroduction to the sport. We are 3 games in now and he's having a fun time. He's scored 1 goal and is enjoying being on a team with his good friend JT. Here's to a great season Shepherds!
