Update no. 2. (I apologize in advance as this is going to be a heavy picture post.) Scott and I planned our vacation this year to Smith Mountain Lake. We went the week after my birthday and had a wonderful, relaxing time. We rented a lake front condo as well as a pontoon boat for a few days during the week. We had never been to Smith Mountain Lake before and we were not disappointed. Our condo was relaxing and had everything we needed. I MUST include that it had the most comfortable bed I've EVER slept on during a vacation. For me, that is super important and either makes or breaks my vacation. It was SO comfortable I even took a couple of naps during the day on it and that says a lot.
We got the pontoon boat on Tuesday and decided to have a picnic lunch while we boated around the lake. Maybe not the best idea given how much the boat rocked when we came upon the wake of the other boats and jet ski's. Motion sickness anyone?? It was still a fun memory made though.

The view from the balcony of our condo. We spent a lot of time on that balcony eating lots of meals and Scott and I had a hysterical time playing Scrabble. He is quite the brain while my smarts are more in the common sense department. He creamed me, but I had a great time laughing at myself.
My favorite thing to do on vacation is to stay in my jammies, sans makeup and contacts. Scott joined in on the fun as well.
Here's my little munchkin in the condo. She turned 11 months this day. Raegan has a Leap Frog dog named Violet that plays music, sings her songs and helps to lull her to sleep when we aren't at home where her mobile is. One night I laid her down and left the room, but I kept hearing the dog go off on the monitor. The dog was singing and going crazy and I went in her room to check it out. I found Raegan sitting up in her pack n' play, dancing in the dark while her dog sang songs with her name in it. She was so excited and bouncing all around. I couldn't help but laugh hysterically. That was the last night that Violet was allowed in the pack n' play with Raegan.
Logan and I had a chance to have some one on one time at the pool one afternoon. It was so fun to see him enjoying the water, attempting to swim and throwing the ball around with him. Sometimes I really miss our alone time together and it was great to make these memories with him. Every year prior to this one on vacation Logan has refused to get in the pool. I think he was just intimidated by them but this year all of those fears were gone and he was ready to tackle it head on.
My mom and dad joined us for a few days at the lake. As always, it was wonderful to be with them and have a lot of concentrated time together. The kids really loved it too. We took the pontoon boat out multiple times and enjoyed the fresh air, breeze and the beauty of God's creation all around us.

Raegan loves her Pop Pop. Any time he would walk in the room she would throw her arms up in the air and start squealing until he would come and pick her up.
She couldn't be any cuter if she tried.
Another thing Logan surprised us with this year is the fact that he wanted to play in the sand. Just like the pool situation he has never wanted to touch the sand, play in it, nothing. This year he was all about building some sand castles

This vacation wore Logan out. He played enough Wii for a lifetime, swam, built sandcastles and was an absolute bundle of energy. This particular day the rocking of the boat sent him right to sleep.

It was truly a wonderful, low-key and relaxing vacation. We enjoyed it so much and are considering making it our place that we go to year after year. We'll have to throw a beach trip in every once in a while. There really is nothing that compares to the sound of the ocean, smell of the salt water and the feel of real sand between your toes, but, this place was really great in it's own right as well as affordable and as far as I'm concerned you can't beat that with a stick.
